Rishengchang Hotel
Location: Beijing
Area: 660m²
Year: 2020
Status: Built
Located in Building 8, You’an Men Wai Street, near Beijing South Railway Station, this hotel reflects both the passage of time and the fusion of classical and contemporary Shanxi-inspired design. The renovation covers 660 square meters on the third floor, including 15 guest rooms, elevator halls, and walkways, aiming to upgrade the space while preserving its traditional essence within a controlled budget.
The design concept balances “new” and “old,” enhancing rather than replacing the hotel’s character. The guest room façade retains its Shanxi-inspired copper coin motif, respecting the building’s heritage while maintaining emotional ties to tradition. Inside, the original mahogany tones are complemented with warm browns, adding modern elegance while preserving the hotel’s classic charm.
The third-floor public area, previously dim due to dark finishes and limited natural light, has been revitalized with brighter tones and improved lighting. Guest rooms, including standard rooms, landscape rooms, and luxury suites, follow a unified design approach, seamlessly integrating contemporary elements with the hotel’s rich, retro aesthetic. This thoughtful renovation breathes new life into the space, ensuring both continuity and modern appeal.
