Hualong Commercial Plaza is a mixed-use development combining financial offices and commercial spaces in Yulin City’s Science and Technology Innovation New City, Shaanxi Province. Spanning 34,230 sqm above ground and 17,587 sqm underground, it is strategically located at the intersection of Huaiyuan and Chongde Roads. The project aims to create an open, shared, and ecological “urban commercial office block,” providing a comfortable, nature-friendly environment for consumption, work, and social interaction.

The architectural design draws inspiration from northern Shaanxi’s traditional cave and courtyard dwellings, known for their human-scale proportions and integration with nature. The multi-level commercial street, divided by the site’s elevation, features dynamic terraces and activity nodes, offering varied spatial experiences. Interlocking circular office blocks hover above, creating aerial courtyards that connect occupants to nature while sheltering the street below from weather. This approach maintains a building height under 24 meters, ensuring safety and preserving spatial continuity.

Facades emphasize horizontal lines, with transparency in the commercial areas and shading elements in the office sections, enhancing visual cohesion and momentum. Rooted in a people-centered philosophy, the plaza prioritizes user comfort and ecological integration, rejecting “large and empty” designs in favor of vibrant, functional spaces that foster culture and community.
