In the constantly developing metropolis, life is filled with a constant stream of information, both meaningful and trivial. We rarely find a refuge for inner peace and reflection. In this chaos, HE Studio is like a lighthouse, providing a peaceful paradise for people to establish connections with their hearts and listen to the whispers of their souls in quiet loneliness.
HE Studio is located on the first floor of Jiahe Guoxin Building on the East Second Ring Road in Beijing. The project covers an area of 248 square meters and is a symbol of tranquility and peace in a bustling city.
The main design philosophy of HE Studio is warmth and brightness, meticulously creating a place for dialogue with the soul, promoting tranquility, and evoking integration with nature. The user experience is the core of this design concept, and each element helps to enhance the spiritual journey in indoor spaces.
One of the main features of HE is the use of soft circular lines in indoor spaces, reflecting the inherent fluidity and elegance of yoga and Pilates. This design element injects a soft atmosphere into the space, cleverly reflecting the curves of the human body in motion and the circular shape of life itself.
The materials and tones have been carefully selected to showcase natural aesthetics and contribute to the overall tranquility of the studio. Low saturation natural wood veneer creates a serene and earthy atmosphere, while white and light gray textured artistic coatings create a serene and exquisite atmosphere. The floor is made of light gray terrazzo tiles, which create a resonance between the space and the outside world.
The lighting scheme in the studio has a dual function; It enhances both functionality and aesthetics. In areas where comfort and warmth are crucial, lighting with a color temperature similar to natural light is used. In contrast, areas that require focus and precision, such as sports areas, benefit from clear white light. The overall lighting design is uniform and soft, ensuring that there are no dazzling shadows that can disrupt the tranquility of the studio.
Based on these elements, we draw inspiration from the principles of Zen philosophy to further enhance the user experience in HE. The use of natural materials promotes a harmonious relationship between indoor environment and the external world, encouraging users to reflect on their interconnection with nature. This is a gentle reminder to our inner connection with the world outside of the body, consistent with the spiritual essence of yoga and Pilates.
The layout of the studio follows the principle of minimalism, eliminating unnecessary interference, allowing users to focus their energy on their hearts, and cultivating a meditative mindset. This is consistent with the concept of mindfulness in Zen Buddhism, which is to be fully present and participate in the present actions.
When designing spaces for multi person classrooms and private teaching classrooms, we aim to cultivate community awareness while respecting the needs of personal space and introspection. This reflects the balance between individuality and collective discovered in yoga, Pilates, and Zen philosophical practices.
HE embodies the essence of tranquility and mental health, providing a harmonious retreat for those seeking to take a step back from busy city life and reconnect with their inner selves. By interweaving the principles of Zen philosophy into our design, our goal is to provide a refuge that not only satisfies the physical needs of yoga and Pilates, but also nourishes the soul.
